LIDO TO RAVENNA

On Monday, June 13th, having had a rest day on the Venice Lido, we cycled about 10km to the far end of the Lido, which was the spot to catch the ferry over to Pellestrina.

Pellestrina,  is primarily a community engaged in fishing, with surprise, surprise very few tourists.

We cycled through Pellestrina and then loaded our bicycles on to a small charter boat.

We disembarked at Chioggia, where our 154km ride to Ravenna began in earnest.

In the morning, we crossed the Rubicon, which used to be a much larger river, but has changed due to flooding etc.

We stopped for lunch in this lovely old square.

and then cycled on to this small town which had a great gellateria.

We reached Ravenna at about 5.30 and I just had time to have a quick shower, change and visit one of the old cathedrals and it's mosaics, for which Ravenna is famous.

The following day, June 14th, we left Ravenna for Bagno di Romagno, 147km away and I will get to that and the following days in my next post.
